The latest from DraftHoops, newest first.
What's coming next
First, a genuine thank you. I've been really happy with the response DraftHoops has gotten, and with all the feedback that's come along with it. I read every message, and it keeps shaping where the game goes.
There's a brand new game mode in the works right now. You can expect it in the coming weeks. I'm keeping the details quiet for the moment, but I think it'll be worth the wait. As always, I'll keep working to make the game better.
Version 0.23
Information and polish
- Added proper info pages: a full How to Play guide, an FAQ, an About page, and Contact and Terms pages, so it's easier to learn the game and understand how it works.
- Added a short introduction on the home page for anyone new.
- UI fixes and polish, including a cleaner background and a steadier menu as the page loads.
Version 0.22
The player pool was widened
- Added many new role players to the pool: 1,202 new draftable players (759 in Modern).

- Every existing player's ratings are exactly the same as before. The draft should feel exactly the same, but with more bench variety.
- This was done to add more variety among the cheaper players you can draft.
Version 0.21
What changed
- UI improvements and polish.
- Daily Teams are back.
- Clutch time fixes: the closing minutes of close games play out cleaner and more realistically.
Version 0.2
Play a Friend (new mode)
- Invite a friend with a share link or join code and draft against each other live.
- You both build your teams, then watch a best of seven play out together.
- Rematch with the same teams or redraft fresh ones, and a Series MVP is crowned at the end.
Timed Ranked modes
- Ranked now has two timed formats: Classic gives you 5 minutes to draft, Bullet gives you 45 seconds.
- Each format keeps its own Elo rating and its own leaderboards.
- A large, clear timer counts down while you draft.
- The ranked ladder resets with this update. Everyone starts fresh at 1200 Elo, and the ceiling is much higher than before, so there is far more room to climb.
Leave and come back
- You can now head back to the menu from inside a game, and pick a ranked game up again later right where you left off.
Hall of Fame
- Save your best teams to your account, give each one a name, and view them whenever you like.
Why you won or lost
- After every series, a recap breaks down what decided it: raw talent, the position by position matchup, and how well your roster is built.
A deeper, smarter draft
- Offers now come in price tiers with some variety, so spotting good value is a real skill.
- Stars cost a real premium, so you can no longer just stack superstars.
- Building a balanced team that covers rebounding, spacing, ball security and free throws matters more, and leaving a glaring weakness is punished.
- Players can now be eligible at more than one position.
Set your lineup and minutes
- Swap any player between your starting five and the bench, both while you draft and on the lineup screen afterward. This was one of the most requested features.
- Minutes are less restrictive now: any player can log up to 30 minutes, or their real season average if that is higher, with no fatigue at all. Role players are easy to lean on.
- But overplaying a player well past their usual minutes is punished harder, so stacking a couple of stars and benching everyone else no longer works.
Games feel more real
- Overtime was added, so a tied game now plays extra periods until someone wins.
- Blocks were added to the clutch time finish, so the closing minutes of tight games feel more realistic.
Ranked rating tweaks
- Rating swings are gentler when two teams are mismatched, so beating a heavy favourite still pays off and dropping an upset does not sink you.
A fresh look and easier navigation
- A new slide out menu, a cleaner main menu, redesigned matchup and result screens, and a sign in that lets you pick Google or email in one place.
- A first run guide for new players, plus helpful tips while you draft.
Under the hood
- The player pool and all ratings were rebuilt for a tighter, fairer spread of skills, along with many fixes and polish throughout.
